Totoro Forest Project

A huge thanks to Dice Tsutsumi, Yukino Pang and the Project Committee for setting up such an amazing event! More than 200 pieces were contributed by artists to the Totoro Forest Project. An auction will be held Sept. 6, 2008 to help raise funds to preserve the forest around Tokyo, affectionately known by some as "The Totoro Forest."

Italy Sketches Part 1

Here are some sketches from our trip to Italy. What blast! Short but sweet. The top three are from Florence ... two from the Chapel of the Medici's Tomb of Lorenzo II by Michelangelo and one from the Loggia in the center of old Florence. The bottom one is of a town we zipped by on the train from Milan to Venice (and an unfortunate train conductor I tried to draw).I did these pen and ink sketches in a tiny moleskin sketchbook, perfect for travelling light. I'm hoping to get back to some of these and other sketches in color!

3 years of blood, sweat and tears ... finally wrapped up and done! Brady Games has published a pretty nice Lair Strategy Guide/Art of Book.

A complete art team credit list does appear at the end of the volume, though we were unable to attach captions and credits to each of the art gallery images. All in all, it's a nice keepsake to walk away with.

In the same vein as the Bond stuff, done about the same time (spring 2005). I was trying to get a traditional water-based medium type feel through digital paint over a scanned sketch.

(For an EA Bond Game released last year) From my preliminary sketches the art director picked a final direction. After scanning my sketch, I did the rest with photoshop, trying to get the paintings to look like they were done with traditional-ish water-based mediums.

Yeah ... I was cheating to try to get the feel of unforgiving traditional mediums through the hobble and digital crutch known as {Cntrl}z! The trained eye can probably tell pretty quick that there's something weird going on ... but for anyone who can't tell. Shhhhh ... don't tell them! ; P

Anyway, it was a really fun job ... esp. painting a busty Bond babe!;)
